“Barack Obama” At the Gallery
Any first year art history student can tell you that two of the biggest influences on an art work and its artist are the political and social environment of the time. Then in true symbiosis the art and artist spark the public contentiousness thereby effecting that sociopolitical climate. This rule has not been more obviously illustrated than it has in the last year with the nomination and election of Barack Obama.
On sat January 17, the sat prior to inauguration day, I attend “Barack Obama” a collection of portraits by: Rico Anderson, John M Graham, Jean Patrick Icart Pierre, Nandi Icart Pierre, Jean Dominique Volcy at The Gallery. Exotic Homes and Gardens on Atlantic ave in Brooklyn has been clearing there show room once a month and hosting art exhibitions.
My initial excitement to attend this event was its location. The even was held in the heart of the Bedford- Stuyvesant Section of Brooklyn were I grew up. The ides that gentrification of my neighborhood, best known for Biggie songs and Spike Lee movies, had finally brought art community filled me a since of elation. This was a non-reality to me growing up but then so was the election of an African-American President. I happily ventured out into the single degree temperatures to attend this opening and I was not disappointed.
The exhibition of Barack Obama portraits reflected the emotional connection that people have for this president. This collection of paper and pencil; oil and canvas; told a story of reverence,hope and great expectations for a new leader.

“Top of the Line” At the Showroom Gallery
I recently had the pleasure of attending “Top of the Line” At the Showroom Gallery
Showroom is a small, second floor walk up, two room gallery in NYC’s East Village. Its nondescript entrance sandwiched between a Chinese food restaurant and a bakery would never draw the accidental foot traffic of the dreaded New York City tourist. Instead, this oasis of urban art, is frequented by those in the know and true urban art enthusiasts.
The current show, ‘Top of the Line,’ features urban art veterans Futura, Cope2, Sharp, Shepard Fairey, FaFi, Silolette, Revok, Can2 and Ron English.
Opening Night was a standing room only mash of bodies. Each person trying to maneuver and bob around heads to see each piece . Though it was not hard to find stimulating and informed conversation on the work, it was hard to finish a sentence without someone requesting to get by.
I would recommend Showroom’s exhibitions as a must see, but would not suggest you see them on opening night.

A Historic Day in Our Nation
On this day November 4, 2008 we look forward to what could be a monumental occasion in the history of these United State and biggest step is forward for African descendants in the Americas.
The election of Barack Obama isn’t just one of the long sticks on the American time line, to African Americans; it represents the communal recognition of the African American as valuable part of the human quilt that makes a grate nation.
I have recently had discussions with African American professionals regarding the possibility of Barack Obamas’ election to the Office of President. My intent was not only to gain an understanding of how other were processing their feelings about the election in the final days but also to gain a grater understanding of my own feelings.
Every one I spoke with believes that Barack Obama with be election as President however there are some who did admit that at time they forced them selves to believe in the possibility. A few of the people a spoke to had never thought that an African American would be president before this year. Justine a police officer from Chicago, IL said “I thought it would happen eventually but I never though i would see this in my life time”. Others, who did believe that an African American would be president, found it hard to believe that this could be the time. The source of some of this denial and skepticism was the result of a fear mentally and emotional invest in the possibly of an African American president for fears of being let down in the end. Stefan a publicity director from New York said he didn’t think that Barack would be allowed to win ” I can overlook the racism”. Conversely there were some who were refreshingly optimistic. Sasha an Advertising associate From Chicago, IL said quite touchingly “I’ve been a supporter of him since day one” “I did expect all the pulls and tugs they did on his character, his education, his experience, and his religious background, and community ties where they did NOT do the same for McCain to try and break him. It just showed to me that racism is still alive and well, even if they try to make it subliminal” ”I have faith in my black people”
One of the people with whom I spoke talk me that Barack election was a symbol of progress. Merriam Webster defines a symbol as an act, sound, or objects having cultural significance and the capacity to excite or objectify a response. The capacity to excite or objectify a response. What would the election of President Barack Obama the symbol excite in people? What response would it affect?
Every one agreed that they were already focused and inspired in there live however many did believe that The symbol of Barack Obama could have a great effect on the lives of younger African American. ” I do believe that he has the power and his story , in itself, has all the ingredients to inspire others though; ESPECIALLY younger black men who may feel as though their lives are for naught” Sasha, Chicago , IL. Keith an Attorney From New York told me that Barack Obama the president would be “an example of success and achievement a model” ” a very prominent contrast to the prevailing image we curtly have”
Eventually the we all had to discuss the possibility that Barack Would not win. Everyone agreed that they would be disappointed in the system and the country if this did happen. Tanetha a Senior Technical Director, Shreveport, LA, said she would know that Obama loss would be do to corruption. Thought disappointed all agreed all they could do was go on with life. Vince an Electronic Engineer, Tampa Fl “would just pray for my daughter”
When asked how they would commiserate Barack Election to president very few had intentions on celebration. Vince from Tampa told me he would spend the night hold his baby girl. Wee as Keith from new you, who think celebration would be frivolous and foolish, will take time to reflect on Obamas’ Achievement.
In his legendary “I Have a Dream” speech Martin Luther King said
“the architects of our republic wrote the magnificent words of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men, yes, black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the “unalienable Rights” of “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” It is obvious today that America has defaulted on this promissory note, insofar as her citizens of color are concerned. Instead of honoring this sacred obligation, America has given the Negro people a bad check, a check which has come back marked “insufficient funds.”
But we refuse to believe that the bank of justice is bankrupt. We refuse to believe that there are insufficient funds in the great vaults of opportunity of this nation. And so, we’ve come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and the security of justice. “
I would like to believe that this year and this election mark the next steep forward in cashing that check and in righting wrongs done long ago. I would like to believe that this night marks a point that we all come together as American unified as one nation bound together by brotherhood. Like brothers we will fight and disagree but we can never renounce each other, separate or ignore our unbreakable bond.
As it is the way of this land we will like the light of dawn tell our tale.

Trishdiction :In the near future some one will create a true virtual really game system for the home. This system will marketed at a price that is equal to two months of the average Americans income and still half the American population will buy one. This system will be entertaining for approximately Three weeks.

Two months after the release of virtual game system virtual porn will be creating with virtual porn websites. The websites will take all major credit cards. Many people will be caught in situations were they will be embarrassed and exposed others will be mortified. Ultimately the game system with still lose its entertainment factor six months after release.
